Runner Friendly Community
Lynchburg was the second city in the United States to earn the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) designation of a Runner Friendly Community back in 2011—and has proudly maintained that status ever since. This recognition reflects the city’s long-standing commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for runners of all levels through well-maintained routes, vibrant local events, and strong partnerships between runners, local businesses, and community leaders.
As part of that commitment, Lynchburg offers a wide variety of scenic and accessible places to run, from peaceful park trails to historic city routes and riverfront paths. Whether you're training for your next race, enjoying a casual jog, or exploring the area on foot, there’s something here for everyone.
Below, you’ll find curated links to maps of local parks, greenways, and some of the community’s favorite running spots in and around the Lynchburg area. These resources are designed to help you discover new routes, plan your runs, and experience firsthand what makes Lynchburg such a special place to run.
