About Our Governing Body - Road Runners Club of America
The Lynchburg Road Runners Club (LRRC) is a proud member of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), operating under the Eastern Region District. Our affiliation connects us to a national network of community-based running organizations committed to making running accessible, equitable, and enjoyable for all.
RRCA Mission: The RRCA champions the development of local running clubs and events that promote health, competition, and community through running.
Purpose: As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, RRCA provides infrastructure, education, and support for clubs, race directors, volunteers, and individual runners across the U.S.

Lynchburg Road Runners Governance Summary
Name:
Lynchburg Road Runners Club (LRRC)
Purpose:
To promote running and physical fitness throughout the Lynchburg, VA area through events, outreach, and community engagement.
Membership:
Open to all, regardless of background. Membership types include Individual, Family, Student, and Corporate (as referred to as Business). Members aged 18+ may vote; Corporate members do not have voting rights.
Leadership:
The Club is led by elected officers which include the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and up to 13 Board of Directors. Officer terms are two years with annual evaluations. The Board meets regularly to oversee Club operations, events, and finances.
Meetings:
An Annual Meeting is held each year, with additional regular and special meetings as needed. Members may submit topics for discussion.

Finance & Insurance:
The fiscal year is January 1–December 31. Dues are set by the Board. The Treasurer maintains records and ensures state/tax filings and insurance coverage for sanctioned events.
Race Sanctioning:
The Board may approve and support races if requested in writing at least 60 days in advance, subject to review of event details and leadership.
Rules & Amendments:
By-laws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the membership, with 30 days’ prior notice.
Indemnification:
LRRC provides legal protection for its Board members and officers, excluding cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Dissolution:
In the event of Club dissolution, assets will be managed as determined by the Board, with member approval.
